Rim Jhim Gire Sawan

A considerable number of worlds farming community live in Odisha. It is also endowed with rich natural resources and monsoon that provides livelihoods to the millions living in the state. The south-west monsoon is the lifeline of Odiya people, comes after the scorching summer days. Rim Jhim Gire Sawan’ is an open air musical program to welcome the monsoon in our mother land.

‘Rim Jhim Gire Sawan’ is a unique musical program organized for last several years by KAPOCH to welcome the monsoon in our mother land. Monsoon plays a pivotal role in the socio-economic condition of Odiya people. Due to arrival of monsoon, people get relief from the long pinching tropical summer and the farmers start cultivating their field with a hope to reap a good harvest. Not only human beings but also animals and vegetation celebrate joy with the onset of monsoon. Hence celebration of joy for the arrival of monsoon has become a part and parcel of social and cultural life of Odisha. The Raja, one of the biggest festivals of Odisha is observed in this occasion by the people of the state to commemorate the occasion. Hundreds poems have been written in Odiya in this context. In order to greet the monsoon, a special program was organized on 17th June 2016 at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar in which young talents of Odisha enchanted the viewers with beautiful songs. On this occasion the young evolving singers were felicitated by distinguished guest Sj Ananta Narayana Jena, Honorable Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. The program was attended by more than 350 cultural lovers.
